Last Friday we were invited to Universal Studios to check out the new Super Silly Fun Land. Super Silly Fun Land is the new minion-inspired outdoor play zone that looks like the seaside carnival from Despicable Me. It’s is right next door from the new Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem ride. We were so excited to check out this fun new play land.
Inside the playland, they have a two story water area with a ton of interactive features. B loved experimenting with all the switches and handles to see what they would do. Every few minutes minions unleash a bucket of water on top of the playland.
The water area was the highlight for Brendan! We actually went back to the water area later in the day to cool down. He could not get enough of it.
For the little ones, there is a small park area. Ryan wasn’t feeling the water area that day but he loved the park.
He contemplated going in but he would always turn back and run the other way!
We jumped on the Silly Swirly Fun Ride instead. It’s the only ride in Super Silly Fun Land and it spins you around in the air. He loved it!
After we pulled B out of the water area we jumped on the new Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem ride. It was adorable!!
I ran into Margo, Edith, and Agnes! They were hanging out in front of Miss Hattie’s School For Girls. The entire street was modeled after the neighborhood in the movie.
We stopped by Gru’s Lab for a bite to eat. I ended up with nachos! The portions are pretty big and I ended up sharing this with the table. The boys had a fried macaroni and cheese cube. It was a first!
Of course, we had to get the minion cupcake! It was too cute not to pass up.
After lunch, B went back to play in the water area and Ryan took a snooze. It was such a fun day and the boys had a great time! It was the perfect area for both the boys.
Here are some tips if you come to visit the Super Silly Fun Land:
- Bring water shoes! They do not allow bare feet in the water zone so be sure to bring sandals or a pair of water shoes. If you forget to bring your own, they do have some for sale in a nearby cart.
- Moms – Be prepared to get a little wet. They have seating along the water area but you could get hit by a rogue water cannon. It was a little tough trying to find a dry place to sit while Ryan was taking a nap. The changing areas are also located in the back of the water zone. It’s takes a little finesse to navigate around buckets and canons of water. I managed alright!
That was our adventure at Universal Studios! The majority of the day was spent at the Super Silly Fun Land. It had something for both of my boys! B really enjoyed that water area. He wore himself out!
So if you are in the Los Angeles area and looking for something fun to do, grab your bathing suit and head down to Universal Studios! The perfect summer time playdate!
