I had the wonderful opportunity to head out to the Evolve Boutique in San Antonio last week. This was my first real “mommy night out” since coming to San Antonio. I received an email inviting me out to a night of fashion and inspiration. We were in the middle of the move but this was a chance to meet some new ladies, get away from the house, and shop! Yes, yes, and yes! I am so happy that I went because not only was this a night of shopping but truly an experience of what this boutique is all about.
The owner, Victoria Maysfield, has started a campaign at her store Be Beautiful, Do Beautiful. She inspired us all with her stories of ways that she gives back to her community. Once you take a second to look around the store, you realize this just isn’t a regular boutique. She supports causes that are near and dear to heart and finds way to really reach out to the community of women around here.
She has a wonderful display of crafts handmade from Africa, that supports an orphanage, Kirabo Seeds for Uganda. 100% of the sales raised from these crafts go to the orphanage. There are wallets prominently displayed on her shelves that help domestic violence victims. Again, 100% of all money raised on those wallets go to that charity. On her walls, she has local artwork from the students at UTSA, giving them a place to showcase their talent. When you walk into the store, you know there is something special here and it’s not just the fabulous clothes or super cute decor.
After the event, we were invited to go shopping! I am a busy mom of two and I have to admit most days I am running out the door with my yoga pants on trying to get my oldest to school. However, *most days* when I get home from that morning rush, I do try to fix up. It just makes me feel good!
My style is very laid back and I choose pieces that are comfortable and easy to wear. I also try to pick pieces in my closet that I can transition from day to night with a few different accessories. I really loved that her store had a lot of LONG tunic tops. I am a tall girl and it’s really hard to find those long tops. One of my go to looks during the fall/winter is leggings. My rule about leggings. Your top needs to cover that bottom! So, I was pleasantly surprised to find a ton of long tops in her store.
Want to see what I picked up and have already become staples in my winter closet?
oh! Here’s to my first self photo shoot! Can I say how awkward it is to try and get pictures of yourself wearing an outfit. I have so not mastered that mirror-selfie photo shoot but I tried.
First up, accessories!! I love, love, love scarfs. I have started a collection of them a few years ago. I wear them all year long. I wear them with regular shirts or tanks during the summer and I also wear them in the fall. Sometimes, I layer two if it’s a cold day. They are almost like a necklace and can dress up any outfit. Even if I am in yoga pants, I put on a scarf and feel a little more put together. This is a staple in my closet! The gold skull scarf caught my eye as soon as I walked in the store. I couldn’t pass it up! I was also introduced to Kendra Scott Jewelry while I was there. I saw this gold necklace and I was in love! I love wearing long and layered necklaces when going out but when I am doing my everyday things, I keep it simple. This necklace does just that!
Burgandy Tunic – One of the models was wearing this during the event and I fell in love with it. It has such a pretty flow to it, almost like a dress. I can also use all the extra flow I can get during this time of year. 😉 I paired it with the fleece lined leggings that was in our gift bag for the event. Hands down, these are my favorite leggings. no. joke. They are warm, won’t fade, and so comfortable. I seriously will be living in these legging this season, especially if the weather doesn’t warm up! I jumped on Victoria’s blog, and she is giving away a gift bag (with these leggings!!). Go check it out and enter to win. Hurry, because the giveaway ends at noon today!!!!
Aztec Sweater – Once I tried on this top, I knew it was coming home with me!!! I loved the clever design to it. Notice the diamond shape in the middle? Well, it gives you that appearance of a smaller waist! I have it paired again with those fleece lined leggings, a mint scarf, and boots. Easy outfit! One that I can just throw on and walk out the door.
Layers – Boot Socks – I was super lucky that night and I ended up winning a pair of these adorable boot socks along with a black scarf!! The one thing I love about fall is that you can layer. I layer scarves, socks, shirts, all the time. It just brings interest to an outfit. I also love to layer bracelets, watches, and necklaces. So when you look through your closet, try to think of some new ways you can spruce up an old outfit by just adding new layers to it.
Ryan caught wind of what I was doing and couldn’t pass up a photo opp. An impromtu photo sesh started.
Evolve Boutique also has an online boutique! You can shop online, purchase right at home and get this: FREE SHIPPING. Here are a few of my favorite fall picks featured online.
via Evolve Boutique
Laila Cardi – The gray is so pretty and would easily go with any outfit. This would be pretty paired with the burgundy top I picked up!
Bev Stud and Crochet Sweater – I love the lace details and the studs around the neckline. This would look great paired with a scarf, jeans, and some brown riding boots. Ugh! How did I miss this in the store!
Rhonda Riding Boots – Riding boots are a staple in winter! Seriously, they are a magical piece in my closet. Throw on a sweater, get your fleeced lined leggings, a scarf, and wear boots. You are good to go! I overheard a lot of ladies at the event that loved these boots! They kept saying how comfortable they are. I will be checking them out on my next visit!
If any of my outfits above caught your eye then you can place a phone order! Just call the store directly at 210-569-5001 and it can be shipped to you!
10% of all online purchases made this month will be going to Autism Community Network.
So to sum up my fall/winter style, I put together a little chart of my must-haves this winter!
Evolve Boutique is also holding a great Black Friday sale this year! If you are local to the San Antonio area you should try to make it! To keep in the loop with sales and store happenings like them on Facebook!
Thanks to Evolve Boutique for throwing such a fun and inspiring event. I know I will be back to shop there very soon!
Full Disclosure: I received a free gift bag that had a pair of leggings to review. However, all opinions are my own. I only recommend products or services I personally use and believe my readers will love!
