I’m not sure if I have ever talked about how J, my hubs, is a huge Clemson fan. He is. A huge one. He has a whole room dedicated to orange and purple and he rarely misses a game. I even made him Clemson curtains and matching throw pillows to decorate his orange man room once. I wanted to make him something for Christmas this year. Since we just moved into a new house and he is busy decorating his orange room. I knew it had to be Clemson related. So I came up with this “All In” Clemson sign to hang on his wall.
It was SO easy to make using my Silhouette machine. Here is what you will need.
- Hobby board. I got mine at Lowe’s. It measured 7 1/2 by 24 inches long.
- Orange and white acrylic paint with paint sponges
- Stain – I used Dark Walnut from Varathane
- Scrap vinyl and contact paper
I started by staining my board. I let mine dry over night. It dries pretty fast so you could probably get away with letting it dry for a few hours.
I found a Clemson paw online and used the Silhouette Studio to trace the paw. I had to set the high pass filter to get the trace of the paw just right.
I placed my paw on the board trying to line it up in the middle. Caught up in my quest to get everything.completely. straight I made a huge fail. I didn’t even realize until after the board was made. The Clemson paw has a slight tilt to it. My paw turned out straight. whoops. 😉
Using orange acrylic paint I dabbed the orange on to the paw.
Next came aligning the words. I used contact paper to transfer my vinyl stencil over to my wood. With the help of a level and a sewing ruler, I tried to align the phrase centered.
I painted the words in a white acrylic paint. You will want to let the paint dry a few hours.
Once the paint was dry I added “L” brackets to make my sign feel “manly”. I used sandpaper and lightly roughed up the edges, the words, and the paw.
I gave him the sign and he LOVED it. He had a huge smile on his face. He then asked me to sign it and he took it up to his man cave and hung it on the wall.
He is all set for the big game tomorrow! Go Tigers!
