I did it! I made the switch! My blog is pretty rough right now but it is a work in progress. I have some broken links that need fixing, I need to play around with some plug-ins, and work on my design.
Overall, it wasn’t very hard to make the switch! I’m not sure what I was so afraid about. I had a couple of hiccups getting my domain name transferred, like you have to uncheck the privacy box before they will transfer!!! The actual importing of my old blogger posts to Word Press was super easy. All you have to do is press a button. 🙂 I wish I would of done it sooner! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!
“Till Next Time!

I’m so impressed with the fact that you did this all yourself. Everything is looking smashing, dahling. Just smashing! Hope you can get all of those kinks worked out and enjoy your new bloggy life on WordPress.org. I feel like I’m finally getting into a flow after the migration and most of the drama is worked out (at least, I hope). Well done!
Haha:) Thank you so much! I’ve been feeling my way around things and I love all the stuff I can do on here! I was a little nervous to do it all myself but so far it has been smooth sailing. I love your new blog design! So pretty:)
Impressive that you made the switch all on your own. I paid someone to do it and was still nervous and overwhelmed! Everything looks great so far 🙂
Thanks Shannah! I was so nervous too! I was worried I would miss a step or something. So far it has been fun learning it all 🙂 I love how the comments work so much better than blogger.
What were your top three reasons for switching? I still have blogger and am trying to figure out if I want to make the change. Thanks.
Hi Sonja, I had a few different reasons for making the switch. I agonized over this decision for 1/2 a year. I didn’t want to “get over my head” and ruin my blog in the process!
My number one reason was to learn a new system. I have been doing some web design for a local office and I wanted to expand my skill set. I really like the word press built blogs and websites. There is no better way for me to learn than just by doing. I was pretty confident in my ability to get it transferred over without too many hiccups before I started so that wasn’t too big of a worry. I’m also cheap and if I had to pay someone to do it for me I would of stuck with blogger. My blog (even though I share personal stories and craft tutorials) is also an outlet for me to learn web design. Reason why my blog changes it’s design more than my hair color. 🙂 The more I learn about SEO the more Word Press stands out to me.
2nd reason: Google Reader going away. I liked having Google Reader and since that is going away there really wasn’t anything really keeping me to Blogger anymore. I think I would of made the switch eventually if GFC stayed but this was just the push I needed to make the switch.
It was a tough decision to make. I really love Blogger and think it is a great platform to use. It’s very user friendly and free. I read a ton of articles about reasons to make the switch and one really stood out to me. She said think of blogger like your local grocery store. It’s familiar, comfortable and it does the job. She said to think of Word Press like the new Super Target moving in. It also does the job like your local grocery store but offers so much more. So far I am finding that to be the truth.

Hope that helps! If you have any other questions let me know:)
