Good Morning! It’s a special day over here! We are celebrating the 12th month of The Silhouette Challenge that my friend Lauren at The Thinking Closet started last year! I can’t believe it has been a whole year. I didn’t participate in every challenge (even though I joined in January I was a bit slow to get that Silhouette out of the box!) Once it was I couldn’t stop and these ladies helped me every step of the way! So let’s get started with this December Challenge shall we?!
I have yet to use Flocked Heat Transfer Vinyl (also known as HTV). Shocking. I know! 🙂 I have always used smooth on my projects. What’s the difference you ask?? Smooth is just as it is described. It’s smooth and has a some what shiny look. Flocked has a velvet like texture and is thicker. Which do I like better? Both. I think it just depends on the project and look you want. I will tell you this flocked is a whole heck of a lot easier to apply! It doesn’t bunch up like smooth can when you iron it on. So that is a major bonus and a plus for first time users!!
So my first step was using this silver metallic spray paint to color my hoops. It gave my hoops a little shine and I love the way it turned out. I sprayed the hoops the night before I started my project so they had plenty of time to dry.
When using HTV {heat transfer vinyl} you do not need your cutting mat. Simply twist that blue lever down on the right of your CAMEO. Twist the white roller to loosen the notches and slide down. Twist the notches back in. Make sure to Load MEDIA instead of load mat on your machine.
In Silhouette Studio you will want to prep your files. Measure how big they are and make sure they will fit accordingly in your hoop!
You will need to mirror your image if using words. So I flipped HO HO HO horizontally in the Silhouette Studio. If you would like that cut file you can find it here: Christmas Hoop Art Ho Ho Ho
The snowflake and the Christmas tree I found in the Silhouette Online Store.
Using the hook tool – I weeded my design. Smooth vinyl has some give to it where flocked doesn’t. If you run into a snag flocked can easily rip. I ripped one of my H’s. You can’t tell but it’s there. 😉 So just be careful when you are weeding flocked HTV and go slow.
I used two 10 inch hoops and three 6 inch hoops for this project. To make it easy – I cut five 12 x 12 pieces of white fabric. I used muslin, it’s cheap, only $2.99 for the yard! You will need a whole yard of fabric.
Iron your fabric to get the wrinkles out. Place your design on the fabric. Place a cloth on top and press for about 60 seconds. Pull off the clear plastic and your design should be intact! If not just keep pressing with the iron.
I placed the fabric in the hoop and twisted the top to secure it tightly.
Cut excess fabric off. I left about 1 1.2 inches to work with. I then hot glued the fabric down onto the hoop.
I added a little black polka dot bow and it was finished!
This project was really quick once the hoops were dry. It took less than 30 minutes from Silhouette to wall!
As some of you know I have been working over on the Silhouette blog as part of their design team. I have been busy! Here are some of my recent projects. If you have a chance I would love for you to stop by. The ladies on the team are all amazing! Here are some of the projects I have been working on.

I LOVE that you painted the hoops!! They look so crisp and clean.
That is my favorite part too! Even at night the light will catch the silver!
I love hoop art and these are adorable! The flocked heat transfer vinyl worked perfectly on these!
Thank you Monica!
This is beautiful! I love how this turned out — simple concept but huge impact! I can’t wait to try my hand at HTV…this gives me inspiration to just do it. Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🙂
Thank you Angela! Do share once you tried HTV! It really is easy to do and the results are great! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas as well!!
What a great idea! I have a ton of those frames laying around so this would be a perfect way to put them to use.
Thanks Brenna!
Your wall decor is adorable. I haven’t tried the flocked yet but it was perfect for your project. I’m going to have to try this.
These are too cute! What a great variation of hoop art. They would look great in my own family room! Thanks for the inspiration.
These are great – the red stands out and looks so crisp and bright against the fabric background. I haven’t tried the flock HTV – good to hear of your experiences with it.
Very cute!!!
These are so pretty Tori! I love embroidery hoop art!

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!! SO cute and festive! And I love how easy it seems – I think I can probably do this 🙂 I’m a Silhouette newbie so I like easy projects!

Thanks Rachel!!
Very cute! I love the flocked HTV! 🙂
Me too!!! So easy to apply!
Tori, these are beautiful!! I haven’t been brave enough to try the heat transfer vinyl… and I HAD some on my silhouette shopping cart during their big sale… but I chickened out! Noooooo……. 🙂 This is such a cute project! I hope it makes you smile every time you see it!
Thanks for such a sweet comment Janice! You shouldn’t be afraid! It really is so simple to do. You don’t even have to fuss with contact paper. Flocked makes adhering it so much easier. I would suggest trying flocked for your first go round!! Please link up any projects you make! I would love to see them! It totally makes me smile. I have it right in my dining room and pass by it all the time:) I love how it turned out.
I’m a huge fan of flocked HTV, too…SO much easier. But I did invest in some metallic HTV after seeing your robot t-shirt. The silver on black is just so eye-catching! Okay, now to talk about your hoop art itself: IT’S AMAZING. I already have been collecting hoops so this is just the inspiration I need to actually put them to use. I could even switch out the fabric as the holidays change. Pinning!
Thanks for ALL your help in pulling this December Challenge & Giveaway together. Couldn’t have done it without you and your fab graphics. Hugs.
You will love the Metallic HTV! I bought more too. I couldn’t resist doing so more robot shirts for my nephews. I can’t wait to see what you do with it! That is such a great idea about reusing the hoops for different holidays! Smart thinking! Thank YOU for all the work of putting this amazing group of ladies together! I can’t believe it has been almost a year!
I thought these were painted at first! So cute!
Super stinkin’ cute! I love it!
Thanks Laura!
I am really, really hoping that Santa brings me a Silhouette for Christmas this year! I have never used HTV. I need to! Love your project, Tori. Turned out so cute!
How darling?! Looks like I need to invest in some HTV. You Silhouette Challenge girls won’t stop being awesome with it!
Tori, these are so so so cute!! And I love the polka dot bows!
Thanks Amy! The bows are my favorite too!
Another problem is the one where the buyer receives the wrong item or does not receive anything at all.
You can also use the magazine racks and other racks to hold things
like plants, newspapers and wine bottles. As far as art for childrens room is concerned there are many types, wall painting
is one of them.
