Hi Friends,
It Silhouette Challenge day! The theme this month was print and cut. There was a bonus challenge if you could somehow incorporate hearts into your project. I have really been loving print and cut lately. This is my 2nd project this year using the Silhouette Connect program, which makes designing in Illustrator and cutting on the Silhouette easy. I made these print and cut pantry labels during the last Silhouette Challenge.
So I decided on designing some fun heart themed printables to use for Valentine’s day or really any day of the year. Who doesn’t love hearts and fun sayings? š I designed a whole printable collection of journal cards and toppers. You can really use the journal cards as fun “love notes” or use the mason jar toppers as “gift tags”. They can really be used for anything that strikes your fancy.
You might recognize the one qoute “I Love You Awesome Nerds”. It comes from the movie Pitch Perfect. It’s one of my favorite qoutes from the movie and I say it all the time. I think I am going to turn the one journal card into a huge framed print for our game room.
So if you have a Silhouette and want to cut out the cupcake toppers and mason jar toppers follow along.
You will need to download this file: Silhouette Studio Cupcake and Mason Jar Toppers
I set the file up for you in the Silhouette Studio. At least I hope I did it correctly! I am still learning! š
You will want to open the file. Print out the toppers making sure the registration marks are there. Then, select Send to Silhouette. The silhouette will read the registration marks and cut out your design. Ā Be sure there is plenty of light in the room with your machine. It will help the machine clearly read those marks. I was cutting mine in the dark and I think it had a little trouble.
Done!
If you do not own a Silhouette I am including all my files for PDF download. They will be listed at the bottom of this post.
IĀ think the hearts look adorable as cupcake toppers. All you need to do is attach them to a paper straw thats been shortened.
I also designed some heart themed 4 x 3 journal cards. I tried to import them into the Silhouette Studio but my patterns were off. So I have them for download as a PDF. Ā I was able to use my Silhouette machine and cut them directly from Illustrator using Silhouette Connect. Ā Some cut perfectly and others not so much. I really have to start using layers when designing any print and cut projects. I think that was my problem.
That’s it! I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine’s day! You can download my PDF files here:
I <3 you awesome nerds.
